What are Logic Pro templates?
Logic Pro templates are Logic project files that open with tracks and an arrangement already in place, so you start writing instead of setting up. The templates on this page are generated per genre and download as a .logicx project.
What do you get in the Logic project?
Every download is a .logicx project built from the grid above. Each row on the grid becomes a track in Logic, and each section becomes a region placed on the timeline, so the whole song is mapped out in the Tracks area the moment the project opens.
Turn on markers in the options and every section gets a named marker, which lets you jump between the intro, verse and drop from the marker track or the control bar. Track notes add a short description of what each part does, which helps when you are learning how a genre is put together in Logic.
How do I build on the template in Logic Pro?
Open the Library on any track and load a software instrument from Logic's stock sounds, or drag in Apple Loops to fill a section. Group related tracks into a Track Stack to keep drums, bass and synths tidy, and use the markers to audition one section at a time while you write.
To move whole sections around, add the Arrangement global track and drag sections to reorder them. When you land on a layout you want to reuse, File, Save as Template keeps it in the Project Chooser for your next song.
How are these different from Logic's built in templates?
The Project Chooser in Logic Pro offers empty projects and a few starting setups, but none of them contain an arrangement. They give you tracks, not a song. The templates here start from a genre, so the sections, lengths and parts are already decided, and you can still change all of it on the grid before you download.

What is inside the .logicx file?
You get a zip containing a .logicx project package. It holds the tracks and regions for every section of the arrangement you built on the grid. Depending on the options you pick, it can also include markers for each section, drum patterns, and track notes that explain what each part is for.
How do I open the template in Logic Pro?
Unzip the download, then double click the .logicx package or use File, Open in Logic Pro. The project opens in the main window with the arrangement laid out in the Tracks area.
Can I open these templates in GarageBand?
No. The download is a Logic Pro project, and GarageBand cannot open Logic Pro projects. You need Logic Pro on a Mac.
Can I save it as my own Logic template?
Yes. Once the project is set up the way you like, use File, Save as Template in Logic Pro. It then shows up under My Templates in the Project Chooser, so every new song can start from it.
How is this different from buying Logic project files?
Downloaded Logic project files are fixed: you get one song in one style. Here you choose the genre, change section lengths and parts on the grid, and download a new project every time you want a different starting point.
